Why do I make long videos about music on my YouTube channel? – What does this have to do with anorexia recovery?
Well, a music contest certainly does not have anything to do with anorexia recovery, not directly. Indirectly, though, a long YouTube video made by a person dedicated to recovering from this dreadful disease, in which I eat stuff and show some joy, may inspire anyone else going through the same, difficult journey out of disease hell.
So often, when we are in the midst of recovery, or when we are really wanting to recover but so down and depressed we cannot even get started, we need encouragement from others, badly. And personally, I need encouragement from others who really understand all the details of the disease, as well as the bumpy recovery path.
Since I know a lot of what viewers of my YouTube channel may be enduring, I want so much to provide relief, and to reassure folks that recovery is possible, no matter how old we are or how long we have had the disease. Also, I want to demonstrate that older people can eat just as much as younger people; we need even more than younger people, I believe, because our bodies have been through tough times that much longer.
And yes, so frequently in recovery, I have felt like a walking meltdown – and I do mean that I felt like I wanted to vaporize off this planet. So many emotions plus a lot of physical discomfort equal indescribable panic. However, if I hang on long enough, I can get through these tough moments and learn that wow, I don’t hate myself after all (wow, again!), and I really can experience merriment, enjoyment, and the like. I get so much out of music, even though I am no expert at it. I just love it, and I love talking about it.
Therefore, those of you who have time on your hands, and who find yourselves wondering, “What am I going to do with my panicked, crazed self for the foreseeable hour?,” watch one of my music-contest videos! And start thinking about music. Even if it is off-topic. And feel free to leave suggestions/feelings in the “comments” section. I welcome your words.
Or, if music is not your thing, let’s try movies. What is your favorite movie, or what are your Top 5 favorite films? Contact me in the “Contact” section of this website and let me know – and if you do not like film, what really inspires you? It could simply be just food at this point; I get that. So, what is your favorite food? Do you remember good times associated with it?
In short, I want to engage your brain in something lighthearted and fun, even if just for half an hour. And I will respond if you contact me. I think we can help each other through the tough times.
